A 31-year-old member asked:
I'm going to have surgery soon and am wanting to know if the injection (lidocaine) hurts and how much?

Anesthesiology 17 years experience
Likely: Most of the local anesthetics cause some pain when they are injected in sensitive areas of the body. It usually hurts first after injected and the it goes away. Different people experience pain different ways so some think it hurts a lot, some are ok.
