Antibiotics can help: With dental abscesses but may not control all if the infection. Antibiotics will be unlikely to solve the infection issue. Please seek professional exam and treatment with your issue.

Could be: The antibiotics you are taking may not be correct for the bacteria causing the abscess. Speak to the doctor who prescribed this medication for this abscess so that the meds can be re-evaluated. The tooth still needs to be treated for the infection to go away.

Not related: Antibiotics do not "cure" abscessed teeth. The correct antibiotic may limit spread of the infection, but the tooth must be treated (restoration, root canal ; cap, or extraction and tooth replacement) for the abscess to be "cured." additionally, some antibiotics are not effective against the specific bacteria implicated in tooth infections. Please see your dentist for clarification.
