Does schizophrenia mean split personalities? i heard that in the old movies?

Actually: Split personalities has no meaning for a psychiatrist these days.

No: Schizophrenia is a thought disorder that has nothing to do with a split personality.

Psychosis means the patient is getting external stimuli from the environment through one or more of his or her five senses, that does not objectively exist.
