Can chronic bronchitis be there when one has no cough at all?

Nope: Chronic bronchitis is a type of copd, or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. By definition, chronic bronchitis is primarily characterized by a persistently productive cough. Therefore, if you don't have a cough, the diagnosis of "chronic bronchitis" should be questioned.

Depends...: Chronic bronchitis is diagnosed when the person has a productive cough lasting for 2 months a year for 3 years. So, the person does not need to have a cough all the time to meet this diagnosis. The cough needs to be persistent and recurrent over a few years to meet this criteria clinically. Pulmonary function testing can help with this diagnosis earlier in the course of the disease.
