Is prednisone prescribed for crohn's disease?

Yes: It is frequently used to get an active flare of the disease under control, to get the person feeling better. It is not desirable to use prednisone, though, for long term control of the disease, due to its many side effects. Other medications are used for ongoing control to reduce flares and need for prednisone.
