A member asked:

Recently diagnosed with diverticulosis (diverticulitis inflammation put me in hospital), what to do?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Depends: On location and severity of your diverticulitis. In general, if this is your first episode, chances of needing another hospitalization is about 50% over your lifetime, and chances of eventually requiring surgery is less than 30%. Consult with your GI specialist or surgeon for specific advice on what to do. You should modify your diet in order to minimize chances of further attacks.
