Could you explain what is rsv, and is it contagious?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Dominant URI virus: Rsv is the dominant respiratory virus in season, here nov-apr.It enters the airways ; injures cells causing an outpouring of mucous. In some smaller babies, the mucous flow blocks oxygen entry ; leads to major problems;in most older kids or adults it doesn't go as deep ; may only cause a runny nose.I've seen asthma sufferers have trouble with it to age 8. U can get it every yr/ minimal immunity dvps.
