A member asked:

A woman i live with was told that after 24hrs of steroids that her daughter's rsv would no longer be contagious to my son. is this true?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Not really: RSV is the common cold virus and is responsible for 60+% of respiratory illness in season. Essentially all of those in direct contact with an RSV case are likely carriers, symptomatic or not.Rsv will shed the most for the 1st wk after symptoms start, steroids or not, and less so for an extended period. In season almost half the population can/will be a carrier anyway.
