Full evaluation: If you haven't already, please get a full evaluation by an experienced psychiatrist so that the most effective treatment can be provided. Benzodiazepines can be part of anxiety treatment, but not the whole of it. Psychotherapy is also needed. Was your doctor perhaps concerned that you were not using these habit-forming medications as prescribed?
