In my opinion all --: Maisonneuve fx needs to be fixed, to stabilize the whole leg ; ankle complex, otherwise chronic problems occur, like instability of the joint, arthritis, pain. See what your orthopod tells you and follow his advise. Good luck ; happy holidays.
