Personal choice: I think if it is going to be done it should be done in the newborn period with a local anesthetic. The infants often sleep through the procedure, it heals within a week and rare if any problems are encountered. Older kids or adults need a general anesthesia, sutures and slower healing. No= the most uti's starting.
