Sleep apnea: Needs to first be ruled out by a sleep specialist. If there is no sleep apnea there are various minor surgical procedures that can be done to stiffen the soft palate and/or reduce the turbulence in the airway that causes the noise in snoring. If you wish to avoid surgery, a dental appliance that projects the lower jaw forward to open the airway is helpful. A "sleep dentist" is familiar with these.
