Hello docs, is autism considered mental retardation?

No: While some children with autism may have mental retardation, many of them are actually quite intelligent. Some of them learn how to excel at things and lead actually quite productive lifestyles. Those unfortunately who do have true mental retardation however do not fare so well in life. Best wishes.
