This maybe a sign: That you had a disc herniation occur in neck or cervical spine with the neck pain being the time the actual disc was herniating and then the onset of arm symptoms with a nerve being compressed or pinched by the disc herniation. Most get better without surgery but activity modification , traction , physical therapy ; medication can help. Diagnosis can be made by MRI or ct ; injections may help.
