Should i be concerned if my dentist says i am grinding my teeth whilst asleep. why is this ?

Yes, but treat it: Simple treatment may be stress reduction as often nighttime teeth grinding is a subconscious release of daily tension. At least 1hour prior to going to bed, try to unwind, do not watch tv news (all stressful) or do anything work-related. Read something light. If unsuccessful, consider a dentist made mouth guard to wear while asleep.

Sleep apnea: Grinding your teeth during sleep can also be caused by sleep apnea. If you snore, gasp for breath during sleep, are tired frequently, are overweight , have acid reflux, diabetes, or high blood pressure you should be evaluated for sleep apnea.
