Mosquito bite: For insect bites, you would expect to get a local reaction or swelling at the bite site. Local topical cortisone otc would help at the swelling site. If your child develops systemic symptoms like generalized hives away from the bite site, difficulty breathing or having abdominal pain, nausea or vomiting, you should see an allergist to be evaluated because those allergic reactions can be dangerous.
