Yellow drainage: An infection will result in yellow drainage that can accumulate on the eyelids. Allergies will simply cause an increase in tears.

Eye doc: There are actually many reasons for red eyes other than pink eye and allergies. Some can be serious. I recommend you take your child to a pediatric ophthalmologist for evaluation.
