Not Usually, But...: Canker sores (aka: aphthous ulcers) are not associated with hiv. Usually, aphthous ulcers begin early in life and stop occurring in the 30's; the exact etiology is unknown. However, "aphthous-like" ulcers can be associated with auto-immune disorders, GI disorders and hiv. If you are at risk for hiv, or just want to know more...See your dentist and/or pcp and get tested.
