A member asked:

It says right on the bottle of honey not to feed it to infants does anyone know why not or what could happen, what to do?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

We don't in the US: I know some fare east cultures like to offer honey as a ritual celebration ; wish for success. However, there are often spores(seeds) of botulism germs in the product that can grow in a babies digestive tract and cause infant botulism. This can cause paralysis of the breathing muscle ; baby can die. We don't offer honey until after 1yr when it is no longer a problem.
