Blood culture: If you read the reports a few decades ago that multiple diseases could be caused by candidiasis , there is not such a test or such an entity. But if you have an impaired immune system . You may be susceptible to candida infection including a systemic one in which candida can be cultured from the blood. You will be likely very ill when and if this indeed happens.

Systemic candida: To test for systemic candida which is candida in your bloodstream, you need to have blood cultures drawn. They take a few days to come back. You would most likely be very ill and in the ICU if you had candida growing in your blood. The candidiasis most people refer to is actually an overgrowth of candida in the intestines, sinuses, mouth and/or vagina. Please order a consult to discuss more.
