Take it on schedule: Buspirone is not meant to be taken as an as-needed medication. You are supposed to take it twice daily everyday as prescribed (the usual daily dose is 20-30 mg/day but can be higher). It needs to build up in your system like antidepressants. You may need another as-needed medication for your anxiety in the meantime.
