Unclear: Metformin taken without other diabetic medications does not cause hypoglycemia. You may have had the feeling that your sugar was low, but if you were testing your sugar it would not be truly low (under60). You likely have type 2 diabetes. Metformin is helpful to continue, no matter what your sugar is, to decrease Insulin resistance, and forestall worsening of diabetes.
