If you have a hx: Of psychosis, you may need an antipsychotic in addition. 50% of people with bipolar disorder do require some dose of antipsychotic. I am not aware of lithium causing psychosis.On nov, 23, 2013: 13, 553 people reported to have side effects when taking lithium carbonate. Among them, 4 people (0.03%) have psychosis.That's four people of the millions who have been on it. www.ehealthme.com.
