If she is: Deemed to have capacity to make medical decisions on her own behalf then it will ultimately be her decision. It would be important to know what all of her treatment options are at this point.

Sometimes education is the best avenue of approach. Many patients fear the consequences of therapy and if they understand the chances of success in cure and the side-effects are minimized they may become more amenable to intervention. But as Dr. Fowler points out she is an adult. Be gentle, she is probably quite frightened.
