Not good!: You need to see a physician soon, may be acute bronchitis or something worse like lung cancer, strongly advise ct of chest!

Not necessarily: You need to be checked out. The commonest cause of coughing up blood, even in smokers, is not cancer, it's bronchitis. See your doctor. You'll feel better. If it does turn out to be serious, earlier treatment still beats late treatment.
