What can i expect when getting a 2nd toe joint fusion?

Hammer toe surgery?: For hammer toes, it is a common and a very efficient procedure, leaving the toe straight, but good for walking.

Expect: A fusion is the removal of a joint and usually using a pin to achieve bony fusion resulting in a straight toe. There will be no joint where there once was one and thus no motion . It is an acceptable compromise for a joint/toe position that was painful. Please consult your surgeon for any and all questions.
