A member asked:

I was diagnosed with autism at 3 years old if i go to the doctor now at 19 would they still have it on my record?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Maybe, maybe not: This somewhat depends on the extent of the record. Sometimes such labels are used in early childhood and are found not to fit well when the kid is older. If so, the early label becomes part of the history. Someone found to be developmentally delayed at 3 may catch up by their teens and the label would obviously not apply. Such is the problem with observational diagnoses.
