Usually not: 4 month old babies normally keep their fingers in their mouths and bite on things. The fussiness is not normal. I would see the doctor for that and see if anything is wrong. It is usually a little early for teething and that would not be my first guess for the fussiness.

Sounds like teething: While most infants start between 4-8 months old, it is perfectly normal to start younger. As long as he does not have a fever or other symptoms of a cold i would not be overly concerned. Give him a cold teething ring to chew on.

Concur: Dr schneider is absolutely correct. 2 other pieces of advice: 1) never put your child to bed with a bottle containing anything but water 2)1st dental check-up age 1. Would advise seeing a pediatric dental specialist for all the same reasons you take your child to a pediatric medical specialist.
