Shin Splints: You may need to warm up. You may have shin splints or tibial stress syndrome. You may need to see a sports medicine doctor for an evaluation. If you are a runner, you may need a new pair of shoes with an arch support. Stretching before and after your work out is helpful. Also cross training is recommended- running alternating with swimming, biking, elliptical, and strength training.
