Usually not: Retinal detachments and vitreous syneresis are usually detected with and hand held or head mounted ophthalmoscope. The slit lamp looks only at the front 1/4 of the eye and would only see an extremely large detachment..

Had an exam to see if I have retina detachment.The results show I have poster. vitreous detachmt.My eyes were dilated for the exam.Same day of exam,I washed my hair.Some shampoo got into my eyes causing burning&stinging.Can shampoo harm dilated eyes?
I just went to the eye doctor and had my pupils dilated. I walked home afterwards and was in direct sunlight for maybe 15 minutes. Does this cause retinal damage? I'm scared and the answers online are vague. I know I "should have" worn sunglasses.
Had a dilated retina exam and OCT 6 hrs ago.All healthy. But Im noticing intermittent flickering in my left eye sort of like the shimmering after cataractsurgery. Is this a possible side effect from the numbing and dilation drops? Pupil still huge?
