A member asked:

Had ct scan for sinus/ear.ent said it's clear.i looked at report it said i have a protuberant cavernous carotid artery covered by bone.what that mean?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Large vessel: The carotid arteries travel through the cavernous sinus which is a venous drainage system covered in part by bone. I think that they are pointing out that the cavernous carotid artery is confined in bone. If the artery breaks through the bone, it is said to be dehiscent--this can lead to big nose bleeds.
