Blood work: It would be worthwhile to check your blood work especially your thyroid profile which may be a factor in your anxiety.

Going to the ER: I sure wish you had started with your pcp. Millions of dollars are spent in the very expensive er every day in this country to tell people they are just stressed out and not handling their anxiety in healthy ways. This is a great place to start with a pcp. Yes, you need a thorough evaluation and some blood tests to look at your overall health. Always start with the pcp in medicine.
