Congested: Babies are notorious nose breathers. As a result they get a lot of mucus in their nose.The mucus results in a post nasal drip which results in a cough. Use the bulb syringe given to you at delivery to suck out excess mucus. Use saline nose drops in each nostril 4 times a day. Use a vaporizer and elevate the child's mattress when sleeping so he is sleeping on an angle.

Watch for fever: I would be very conscious of his temperature. Fevers in children this young are very worrisome. Please find a way to keep track of his temperature.
