Really put weight on an ankle avulsion fracture? been told could put weight on as tolerated but when i try i hurt for long time after. been 3 weeks.

Not healed: That it hurts after weight bearing means that you cannot "tolerate" it. So u are not ready to most fractures take 6-8 weeks to become asymptomatic. Wearing a brace usually helps avoid re twisting the ankle and putting too much stress on the healing avulsion fracture. There may also be more than a simple avulsion and further x-rays (plain, ct scan or mri) might be necessary. Some need surgery.

Too soon: If you have pain on weight bearing, you need to be non-weight bearing at this time. In the absence of other complications, bone takes about 6 weeks to fully heal. Discuss with your doctor who will evaluate your condtion and progrees.
