Several days: Especially if it was deeply impacted--call your surgeon to inform. If swelling goes internally or interferes with swallowing or breathing, call your surgeon from the emergency room asap. Good luck.

Gradual: Your healing should progress gradually over the next few weeks, with a little less swelling every day. If swelling does not go down, gets worse, of if you have increasing pain, see your Surgeon.
