A member asked:

I had an grade 3 ankle sprain. how long does one wait for an mri should it be done right after the injury or 2 or 3 weeks later?

2weeks: Grade 3 is complete rupture. If you are involved in athletic activity that requires ankle stability like tennis, basketball and volleyball you should consider an ankle stabilizing procedure.

Sprain: Splinting , immobilization , crutches as needed , cam walker , physical therapy , taping all come to mind for this injury. I agree that surgery is the last resort if all else fails. Good luck therapy , taping and.
