Fever, cough: Bird flu or avian influenza has similiar symptoms to influenza with fever, sore throat, cough and body aches. It is more common in Africa and Asia than the United States and is treated with anti-viral medications such as tamiflu and relenza (zanamivir).

Bird flu: The symptoms of the bird flu are essentially the same as the regular flu - fever, malaise, cough. The bird flu can progress to pneumonia, respiratory failure, and death. There is no known effective treatment but anti-viral agents like oseltamivir or amantadine can be tried.
