My 14 y/o daughter is running a fever 38.1, she says she feels her throat bothering but not pain, she have no other symptoms, should i test for covid?, we never had covid before, in case is positive, the treatment is the same as the flu?

If the prevalence of Covid-19 is relatively high in your area then test for covid should be done for isolation purpose (she should be off school for one week). Yes, if she has covid-19 then treatment is only supportive as other upper respiration viral illnesses. Good luck.

Fever and sore throat may be Covid,other viral infection or a strep throat. I recommend testing for covid. If negative get a rapid throat culture to check for strep which requires appropriate antibiotic treatment. If it's Covid, no antibiotics. Gargling with warm salt water,drinking lots of fluids,,& take Tylenol. Distance from her. She isolates at least 5 days or until no fever x2 days&ask MD
