A member asked:

I have pain where the pulse in my neck is. is something wrong with the vein?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Carotidodynia: There is a viral infection of the carotid sheath, the connective tissue surrounding, the carotid artery, the jugular vein, and the vagus nerve. If a viral infection occurs in this sheath, so called carotidodynia (pain around the carotid artery), it is benign and warm soaks or a heating pad and otc analgesics may help. If not resolved in 2-3 weeks, see a vascular surgeon.
