No: Colon perforation is actually an uncommon sign of colitis. Having said that, thosepeople with perforations have a very high rate of complications. If your colitis seems to be "out of control" or if your abdomen is very distended, you have a lot of abdominal pain, or a fever - you should call your doctor, especially if you are on steroids or immune suppressives.
