Maybe higher dosage?: I assume you already had lab work and ruled out other causes of fast resting heart-rate. Metoprolol is a good medication, but does not work for everyone. In addition, 50mg is still a small dose--metoprolol tarate maximum dose is 450mg/day and Metoprolol Succinate (longer acting) max dose =400mg/day. So, you may just need some dosage adjustment. Consult you doc. Good luck.
