Two answers: First, it is your friend who needs to be checked, both physically and psychologically. In this day and age no sexual experience is worth dying for. High risk partners should mandate the use of condoms at all times. As for checking the prostitute, only they can determine if they want to be checked. Physical exams, serological testing and cultures are all helpful.
