Nitrates: Both may cause some drop in blood pressure but usually not very much. Nitrates are not typically used for treatment of hypertension. The effects of the short and long acting isosorbide mono nitrate are similar; the difference is how often it has to be taken, i.e. Once vs. Twice a day.

I take Imdur (isosorbide mononitrate ER) 60 mg every morning. I alwyas take it exactly at 10am and Ive never altered more than about 30 minutes. Is there still a chance I develop tolerances ? I have vasospastic angina?

Having a cardiac SPECT test or nuclear med cardiac test stress and test for vasospastic angina. I take Amlodipine 5 mg TWICE daily and isosorbide mononitrate 20 mg TWICE daily. Doc said stop both 48 hours prior. Is that enough for long acting CCB?
