Examination: You probably have a wax impaction. This can loosened with a dissolving drug like Cerumenex and can be removed by direct inspection with a cerumen spoon or a water jet. Don't try to do it yourself as you're likely to force it and wedge it in ever farther. Vertigo is common with this and will subside after you're treated.
