A member asked:

Im having recurrent abscesses in my gluteal area the infection has never been incised but i am constantly given antibiotics and the swelling goes away?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Abscess: These should be seen and dealt with by an expert in infectious diseases. You may need incision and drainage, long term antibiotics chosen after the organism has been isolated on culture, and possibly decontamination if this is staph aureus. Good luck.
