If that is not: What your orthopedic surgeon lead you to believe would be normal at six months then by all means give his/her office a call and make an appointment.

Probably not needed.: If the knee has been swelling all along after walking or exercising, it can wait. Signs like sudden redness, warmth, pain or even discharge from a scar would necessitate a rather urgent visit.
