May need months: You may need months of consistent dosing to know whether an ssri like fluvoxamine will help ocd. Your psychiatrist will also be adjusting your dose -- and you may need higher doses than most people do for depression alone or even other kinds of anxiety. Additionally, you should be in psychotherapy to work on your ocd from that perspective also. Best wishes to you.

4-6 weeks: In my patients i like to generally see that there is a hint of improvement by the third week. I will not go beyond six weeks without improvement at what i think is a therapeutic dose without switching or augmenting the medication. Best wishes.
