I had a dental implant but it got infected so will it need to be taken out?

Possibly: If the implant is solid then the doctor who placed it can try to eliminate the infection and rebuild the lost bone if it is loose, then the implant will have to be removed the bone rebuilt and the implant replaced.

Infected implany: At what stage of osseointegration did the implant get infected? Where on the implant and to what extent is there bone loss? Those factors will likely determine the prognosis, along with the knowledge and technical skills of the dentist who placed the implant. Treatment options need to be discussed with the surgeon who is actually treating you. Get a second opinion if necessary.
