48 hours normal: The discomfort will typically be greatest in the first 48 hours. If you ice the area during this period, you can greatly reduce it. Right after surgery our body produces pain chemicals and send them to the wounded area. By icing the area, you can greatly limit the arrival of these pain particles, thus reducing pain. After 48 hours, pain is less everyday. If worsened, there is likely other cause.
