A member asked:

After a wisdom tooth extraction is it normal for my teeth on the same side as the extraction to hurt?

Yes: Most likely this is referred pain. The same nerves go to several of the teeth, so if the area of the extraction is starting to ache, then several other teeth may seem like they are also hurting. However, if the pain worsens or doesn't resolve, call the dentist. A local infection is also possible after an extraction.

Yes: The same main nerve that runs in the jaw bone innervate the adjacent teeth. This is normal. It can last a few days or longer sometimes however your dentist can manage this easily with pain medication.
